Testimonials

I met Stephen Lee some six months ago when I embarked on a rigorous training program in both Tai Chi and Kickboxing. I was immediately impressed with his capabilities and credentials as a teacher of Tai Chi. At the outset he displayed an uncommon patience with me as a novice. Stephen is not just another instructor of motion and activity. Rather, he gently and confidently guides his Tai Chi students to experience the tranquility that we often keep locked within.

His classes are always serious and disciplined, but never threatening. As students we are encouraged to learn by our mistakes. And every class is customized to meet each one of our physical and emotional needs. That is not an easy task to accomplish but it is one that Stephen has mastered.

His Kickboxing classes are naturally less cerebral. That is where he demonstrates not only exceptional physical prowess and teaching expertise but, to the delight of his students, a very keen sense of fun. In addition, Stephen has a distinctly caring nature with children. I can think of no better testimonial than to say that I have now begun bringing my eleven-year-old daughter to his Tai Chi and Kickboxing classes. And she loves every one of them.

Stephen and his classes have been a remarkably positive influence in my daily life. He is a mentor extraordinaire and I highly recommend him to anyone exploring these considered disciplines.

I am pleased to have the opportunity to provide a reference for Stephen Lee, who I have known as a Tai Chi and Kickboxing instructor for some time now. I’m eleven years-old, and attend classes at Sayville Fitness with my mom. I can say with confidence that it is only through talking, listening and working with Stephen that the full extent of his talents is revealed.

His energetic and often amusing classes place a fun twist on sports that I look forward to each week.

How does a person learn stillness in motion? Tai Chi Chuan is the most sophisticated, fine-tuned and in-depth martial art. Its subtly reveals itself on many levels: each level bringing fresh new challenges to discover. Perhaps the hardest and most fundamental beginning challenge to this profound art form is finding the appropriate approach and mentor.

Stephen is a highly qualified, dedicated and gifted teacher of Tai Chi Chuan. He demonstrates, encourages, adjusts and fine tunes with eloquent expression. He is able to break down each movement into easily followed directions using grace, gentleness and humor. Through his teaching, we gain the understanding and knowledge of this “Supreme Ultimate” way of life.

Having studied various styles of martial arts off and on for over 40 years, I needed to find a style to suit me and a teacher (Sifu) that could provide me with the incentive and form training I was looking for.

I have been fortunate to have spent the last six years attending classes with Laoshi Stephen Lee learning Taijiquan.

His vast knowledge of Tai Chi and teaching style allow beginners and more practiced students to enjoy learning a wide variety of forms, applications, weapons, and health benefits. It is a pleasure to study with someone you can see lives, what he teaches.
