The Four Treasures

Stand in standard bow stance, lead leg and foot facing forward, rear leg turned towards corner, knees soft/relaxed.

Number one:

Shift weight to rear leg, by relaxing/softening rear knee. DO NOT push back with forward leg.

Number two:

Pivot to corner, using rear hip joint. DO NOT twist forward knee.

Number three:

Shift weight to forward leg, by relaxing/softening forward knee. DO NOT push forward with rear leg.

Number Four:

Pivot to front, using forward hip joint. DO NOT twist knee joints.

* Using a partner will aid in correct alignment. Get your partner to hold your forward knee (similar to a splint) as you shift your weight back and turn to corner. Your partner should not feel any twisting motion in the forward knee. When shifting forward and turning to the front, your partner should feel no twisting movement in the rear leg.
